Prof. Laxman Solankee is a dedicated and accomplished professional with a total of 18 years of teaching experience and research experience. He holds a B.E. Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from RGPV, Bhopal, and an M.Tech Degree specializing in Electrical Drives from MANIT, Bhopal. He has demonstrated expertise in the field of data science and machine learning, with a focus on microgrid protection and renewable energy integration. Currently pursuing his Ph.D. His areas of interest include microgrid protection, grid integration of renewable distributed energy resources, and the application of soft computing and data mining techniques in power system protection. Prof. Laxman has made significant contributions to the field, as evidenced by his publications in reputable international journals, demonstrating his dedication to advancing knowledge and innovation in the domain of power systems and renewable energy. His areas of interest include Microgrid protection, Renewable Energy Resources, the Application of soft computing and data mining in power system protection. He is having more than 7 years of teaching and research experience. He also serves as an active reviewer of various reputed journals and conferences including Springer, Elsevier and IEEE, .

The Automation Club, BIST, Bhopal, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engg. successfully conducted a One-Day Hands-On Workshop on Control Systems and VFD-Based Motor Control with Panel Designing on 2nd April 2025. Dr Anwar Ahamed Ansari, Professor Laxman Solankee, and Professor Sweta Kumari, faculty members of the Electrical and Electronics Department at Bansal Institute of Science Technology in Bhopal, have successfully completed an online course on Electric Vehicle technology from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras through the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL).
The course covered a wide range of topics related to Electric Vehicle technology, including electric vehicle design, control strategies, battery management systems, and charging infrastructure. The course aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Electric Vehicle technology and the skills necessary to design and develop Electric Vehicles.
Dr Anwar Ahamed Ansari, Professor Laxman Solankee, and Professor Sweta ,Kumari expressed their gratitude to the NPTEL team and their colleagues at the Bansal Institute of Science Technology for their support during the course. National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a project of MHRD initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003, to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs. The main goal was to create web and video courses in all major branches of engineering and physical sciences at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and management courses at the postgraduate level. Students of EX 5th semester participated in the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024 on September 10, 2024, with an innovative problem statement: “AI-based Acoustic Wave Monitoring for Rail Defect Detection and Prediction.“ This project leverages artificial intelligence to detect rail defects such as cracks and fractures, predict rail wear and quality degradation, and monitor critical parameters to ensure rail safety and infrastructure efficiency. By integrating advanced AI and acoustic technologies, they aim to revolutionize railway maintenance and contribute to a safer, more reliable transportation system.
BIST Students Rev Up Innovation: Build Cost-Effective Electric Vehicle with Impressive Range In a display of remarkable ingenuity and technical prowess, a team of 7th semester students from the Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EX) department at Bansal Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) has successfully built a cost-effective electric vehicle (EV) that boasts impressive performance. Their creation, aptly named the “BIST Bolt,” can zip between 25-30 kilometers per hour and has a remarkable range of 28 kilometers on a single charge. This eco-friendly marvel is powered by eight 28AH batteries and packs a punch with two 1200W Brushless DC (BLDC) motors.
Our 6th-semester students have completed a two-week internship at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a renowned leader in the field of electrical engineering. From 1 feb 2024 to15 Feb 2024. they immersed themselves in practical tasks, including motor testing, circuit troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance. This invaluable hands-on experience has enriched their understanding of the industry and equipped them with essential technical skills.
To Cadet Dalee Sharma, a third-year student of BIST EX Branch, for securing the 1st position in the All India Competition RDC 2024 in MENU (Most Enterprising Naval Unit). The Electrical Engineering Department team of Bansal Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) has emerged as the winner of a drone flying competition held at Technocrats Institute of Technology (TIT) in Bhopal on April 16, 2023.
The competition was attended by various teams from different engineering colleges across the region. The BIST team, comprising of skilled and talented engineering students, excelled in all aspects of the competition and ultimately took home the first prize.

Our 6th Sem students from EX department, have successfully completed a minor project on “Design and Implementation of 1kw Solar Power Plant Setup for Off-grid Applications”. We have fully energized the HOD room in stand-alone mode, now planning to extend this initiative to provide renewable energy to our entire faculty and classrooms. The visit offered students a hands-on demonstration of essential electrical equipment, including bus bars, insulators, isolating switches, circuit breakers, protective relays, transformers, and SCADA systems.
Experts at the substation provided a comprehensive overview of the equipment’s functionalities and the critical maintenance operations that ensure efficient transmission at this high-voltage facility. The experience allowed students to bridge their academic knowledge with practical applications, deepening their understanding of the operational intricacies of large-scale power transmission systems.

Students gained practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of solar power systems and the implementation of IoT in renewable energy projects.
Students of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering branch visited Tesla Transformer (Global) Pvt. Ltd. in Govindpura, Bhopal On 28 October 2023. Students learned a lot about the manufacturing and operation of transformers. Students also had the opportunity to learn about the different types of transformers and their applications. They also learned about the latest technologies used in transformer design and manufacturing. The visit was a valuable learning experience for students. It gave them a better understanding of the electrical power industry and the role of transformers in it. Students also gained insights into the latest technologies used in transformer manufacturing.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bansal Institute of Science Technology in Bhopal organized an industrial visit to Aartech Solonics Limited in Mandideep on February 25th, 2023. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to learn about some of Aartech Solonics’ advanced products and witness them in action.
The visit included a demonstration of the BTS 2000 Fast Bus Transfer System, an advanced microprocessor, and a control panel for outdoor VCB that included IDMT Numerical relay, Master Trip Relay, Trip circuit Supervision Relay, Indications & meters, and other components. Students learned about the design and operation of the advanced system, and its applications in various industries.
The visit also showcased Ultracapacitors for power quality applications, and students had the opportunity to see them in action. They learned about the technical aspects of Ultracapacitors, including their high energy density, high power density, and long life span. The visit provided students with practical insights into the latest advancements in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering industry.

The Electrical and Electronics Department at Bansal Institute of Science Technology in Bhopal recently organized a visit to the Nishatpura Railway Coach Factory, which was led by Professor Ashish Jain and Professor Sweta Kumari. The visit was organized on 28 feb 2023
During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about the various processes involved in the manufacturing of railway coaches, including the assembly of electrical systems and components. They also got to see firsthand how the coaches are tested and inspected to ensure safety and functionality.
The visit was a valuable learning experience for the students and provided them with insights into the workings of one of India’s leading railway coach manufacturing facilities. The department hopes to organize more such visits in the future to further enhance the knowledge and skills of its students.

Commencing on August 7th, 2023, and concluding on August 14th, 2023, this comprehensive training program aims to equip students with essential skills in motor rewinding and house wiring techniques. Through hands-on sessions and expert guidance, participants will gain practical knowledge and proficiency in these critical areas of electrical engineering.
Fifth semester students of the EX Department from Bansal Group of Institutes recently participated in a comprehensive one-week training program at Power Distribution Training Centre (PDTC) in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Operated by the Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPMKVVCL), this training center provided students with knowledge and hands-on experience in the power distribution field. From learning about the national power policy and the current power scenario to visiting Nistha Testing Lab and a rooftop solar power generation site, students had a wealth of opportunities to deepen their understanding and see the systems in action.
From January 2nd to January 21st, 2024, a hands-on training session on Internet of Things (IoT) and its application using Raspberry Pi was conducted. Participants immersed themselves in the realm of IoT technology, acquiring practical insights into building projects spanning from home automation systems to environmental monitoring solutions. Guided by experienced instructors, attendees refined their skills in IoT development, nurturing creativity and innovation. The training culminated as a resounding success, equipping our students to effectively employ cutting-edge technology in real-world scenarios.
On September 02, 2024, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bansal Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), Bhopal, organized Four-days Hands-on Workshop on “House Wiring and Arduino Fundamentals” for EX-III sem.
The students explored various house wiring technologies, their real-world applications, and gained hands-on insights into house wiring assembly, design, and operation. This workshop provided an excellent opportunity to understand the latest advancements technology and their impact across industries.
Prakhar Solution has initiated certified training program on Drone Technology starting 17th February 2024. Students are gaining hands-on experience with drones and receiving expert guidance from industry professionals.
Mr. Sandeep Shukla, Design Engineer at AARTECH SOLONICS PVT. LTD. captivated the audience with his exceptionally insightful talk on “Exploring Innovative Electrical Solutions in Industrial Product Design” at the EX Department, BIST, Bhopal. Drawing from his vast expertise in the Industrial Research, Design & Development (IRDD) Department, where he spearheads new product development and research initiatives, Mr. Shukla offered invaluable insights into cutting-edge practices and emerging trends in the field. His presentation not only enlightened the audience but also sparked engaging discussions, highlighting the importance of innovation and research in advancing electrical engineering.
Mr. Shishir Sharma, an esteemed alumnus of our institution, now serves as an Assistant Engineer/Manager at MPMKVVCL Central Discom, marking the culmination of a journey that began in 2012. His trajectory from student to professional exemplifies the potential and growth opportunities afforded by our academic programs. As an active contributor to the field of electrical engineering, Sharma’s experiences and insights are invaluable to our current students as they chart their own career paths.
The Institution of Engineers (India) Student Chapter organized an expert talk on the topic of “Bridging the Gap between Industry and Education Institute” on February 25, 2023. The talk was delivered by Ankit Gupta, a representative from Goldmedal Electrical Private Limited, who shared his insights on the topic with the attendees.
During the talk, Gupta discussed the importance of collaboration between the industry and education sector to bridge the gap between the skills students learn in the classroom and the skills they need to succeed in the workforce. He emphasized the need for students to be exposed to real-world problems and practical applications of their knowledge, and for industry professionals to participate in the education process to provide valuable insights and feedback.
The event was attended by members of the IEI student chapter as well as other interested students and faculty members. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and participate in a discussion with Gupta after the talk.

The Department of Electrical Engineering successfully organized a one-week industrial training program at the Power Distribution Training Centre (PDTC), Bhopal, from February 3 to February 7, 2025. This program aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry practices, providing students with practical insights into power distribution systems. The training included interactive sessions on topics such as the functioning of M.P.M.K.V.V.C.L., renewable energy, grid codes, and distribution system planning. Students also participated in field visits to key facilities, including the AMR Cell, Nishta Testing Lab, and SCADA Center, where they observed advanced technologies and real-world applications. Led by experienced professionals, the program equipped students with valuable skills and knowledge essential for excelling in the power sector. This hands-on training was a significant step towards enhancing the technical proficiency and employability of future engineers.
EX Department, hosted a one-day Seminar on “Recent Trends and Advancement in EV and Charging Station”, Dr. Lalit Kumar Sahu, Professor at the National Institute Of Technology (NIT), Raipur, was the program’s Keynote Speaker. The program’s goal was to expose participants to Electrical Vehicles, EV charging, Solutions & Implementations, AC charging stations, DC charging stations, and trending technologies in Electrical Vehicles and Charging Stations.
