The Department was established in 2007. The present intake of this Department is 120. Faculties along with lab staff of this department are dedicated to the full-fledged development of students. Our students have performed very well in various fields and are keen on research work. Field visits, seminars, specialized training, and participation in various activities are a part of our scheme. Our institute and this department in particular focus on the development of the teaching skills of faculties. Labs are given equal importance to make students aware of the practical scenario related to the branch which in turn helps them attract jobs.

The Vision of the department is to empower our students with the technicalities and their all-around development to fulfill the requirements of present globalization. To preach to students the ethics of engineering in order to produce engineers with high caliber and morals to serve society.

Overview

The Civil engineering department was established in 2007. The present intake of the Department is 30. Civil Engineering department prepares students to design, construct, and maintain infrastructure for a nation’s physical environment, including buildings, bridges, dams, and transportation systems. Students gain hands-on experience through laboratory work, field trips to construction sites, and internships. Department is actively engaged in research, contributing to advancements in the field of civil engineering and developing innovative solutions for infrastructure challenges. Department often fosters strong relationships with industry partners through collaborations, internships, and guest lectures, ensuring that the curriculum remains relevant to current industry needs. Departments provide students with opportunities to develop their professional skills through seminars, projects, and competitions, preparing them for successful careers.   1. Civil Engineering department organized a field visit for III & V semester students at Steel structure of an Industrial Warehouse construction. During this visit, students learnt the fabrication process of making Pre Engineering Building (PEB) structure.

2. An industrial Visit was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering & the Student Club of “Bureo of Indian Standard (BIS)” for VI & IV semester students of Civil Engineering branch of BIST at Welspun Corporation Ltd., Vidisha. The students were interacted with the industry professionals & enhancing their knowledge related with manufacturing of different PVC building products. Students also performed experiments like tensile strength of mild steel on UTM.

A technical Session by UltraTech on 27th April 2024 in which the engineers of Ultratech cement ltd. will address the gathering. IV, VI & VII semester students of civil engineering branch was attended the lecture.

3. On 29th 2023, four students of civil engineering branch of III semester along with Prof. Tanmay Singh attended yearly event “Manak Manthan” organized by “Beuro of Indian Standard”. In this event, students were interacted with Top industrialist of Civil engineering stream and other officers of different civil engineering department of M.P.

4. Students of IV semester of Civil engineering branch celebrate “Manak Mahostav” on 25th March 2025 under the student club of BIS (Bureau of Indian Standard) on the occasion of “World Consumer Rights Day” organized by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) at Hotel Radisson. In this program, engineers of different government departments as well as the Entrepreneur and the Industrialist interacted with students. The speakers share the knowledge regarding different IS parameters and their modifications. Prof. Rajesh Singh on behalf of the Civil engineering department of BIST received the token of appreciation given by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS).

5. Department of Civil Engineering organized a technical session on 31st march 2025 for II and III year students of Civil Engineering branch under the “Centre of excellence” established by UltraTech cement Pvt. Ltd. This technical session was on “Advanced materials used in finishing work in building construction”. Er. Alok Singh (Technical head, UltraTech) shared their ideas about the new and advanced materials.

  1. On 20th March 2024, UltraTech Cement Ltd. in collaboration with Department of Civil Engineering of BIST established the “Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Construction Materials” in the presence of Sanjay Jain (Jt. Secretary BGI), Dr. Damodar Tiwari (Director, BIST) & Dr. Satish Nayak (Principal, BCP). The chief guest of this event “Er. Rahul Goel” (Zonal head & Vice precident of Ultratech cement Ltd.) addressed the gathering & share the knowledge about advanced construction materials with the students of civil engineering branch. An MOU is also signed between the Ultratech and Civil Engineering department of BIST.
